Ho!Ho!Ho! it’s early to Christmas we go!
My relatives from Ireland came over for a family gathering in eastern Kentucky. One of them is newly married & this is his new wife’s first trip to the U.S. She didn’t want to see eastern Kentucky. She wanted to see CHICAGO! Oh well. I have a house in a suburb of Chicago (Villa Park), so I gave them the keys to my house, the keys to my car, told my little dog not to let them get into any trouble, & I left for Kentucky.
They’ve been taking walks every night, extremely amused at how early Americans in our neighborhood begin the Christmas season. So they’ve been taking pics & sending them to me in Kentucky, where I get to drive 2 hours round trip to get to some sort of internet access just to see early holiday decorations from back in northern Illinois.
I have no idea why this is so amusing to my Irish relations. Surely, some folks in Europe must begin decorating a wee bit early? Surely? Oh well.
Incidentally, my relations say to note that not only are folks decorating outdoors, they’re also putting up the indoor Christmas tree. (In the case of the house where the living room looks like it’s on fire? That’s the indoor Christmas tree all aglow, my relations say.)
