We pretty much had all of one or two nice days in the last 2 weeks of April. Cold cold cold. Rain rain rain. We have seen nicer Aprils around here. Much much nicer. March was actually much much nicer. So when we got one nice day at the very end of April, we grabbed it & went for a hike at Cantigny Park.
Pasque Flower, an arctic flower, has loads of little hairs to insulate it from the cold. Not sure how the experts know that. I asked the Pasque Flowers for confirmation but they weren’t talkin’.
The redbuds are pink & I don’t know what the red flowers are, but they’re not redbuds. 🙂
Not sure the name of this tree but I really liked it. If someone knows the name, please lemme know…….
A tree swallow sweetly cooperated & posed for me……….
as did the mallard boy.
Then there was a Cooper’s Hawk who absolutely refused to sit pretty for me.I got the distinct impression that there might be a nest in the vicinity & that my presence was neither needed nor appreciated.
Ma Nature wasn’t the only artist at work at Cantigny.
