Tina had been adamant that the outside Christmas decorations had to be put up today. She was sick and tired of Tim putting it off. All the neighbors had their decorations up already. Tina had decorated the inside of the house by herself. Why couldn’t Tim get on the ball with the outside?
Tim knew he had procrastinated too long. The Bears and the Giants were due to kick off in just 10 minutes. By the time he got up into the attic, found the Christmas box, got the ladder out of the garage – well, there would be no time to decorate.
So Tim figured a straight line of ornaments across the top of the hedge would serve just fine for Tina’s ultimatum. She probably wouldn’t even notice, he thought. He thought it looked rather cute himself. Tim thought wrong. Tina noticed. The Bears lost. So did Tim.
It can be something so small sometimes that breaks the camel’s back.
