If you have a country style mailbox, & you happen to accidentally leave the door open in the spring, you know there’s a good chance that some bird will come along, seize the opportunity, & when you go to pick up your letters the next day, mixed in with your letters will be a pile of twigs, leaves, scraps of fabric, little bunches of dog hair — all the things birds love to build nests from.
Well, it looks like a Cortland family may have decided to try to come up with a solution. I glanced inside the birdhouse. There had indeed been a nest inside it.
You can also see another birdhouse on a high pole on the far right of the photo. Obviously this is a human family who appreciates bird families.
